One of the better additions to each of the Walt Disney World theme parks are the various fruit/healthy-ish food stands. Whether your looking for a cold drink or a light snack between meals, these stands are wonderful options for you no matter what park you're in. My favorite of these kiosks is located in the Africa section of Disney's Animal Kingdom...
The Harambe Fruit Market is located near the entrance of Kilimanjaro Safari in the back of Harambe. The structure is open air, like most of these snack stands. The theming is appropriately aged. Ragged wood beams, thick gorgeous thatched roof, and rusty metal flourishes all add to the atmosphere of the space. It fits right it with the surroundings.
The selection available at Harambe Fruit Market is pretty standard for the grab and go kiosks. Fresh fruit, including prepared watermelon, pretzels, and chips make up the bulk of the menu. You will also find water, soda, and sports drinks on ice, ready for a hot day.
There are seasonal items found here as well. A personal favorite is the elephant ear pastry! This flaky delicacy is basically a palmier (which you can find in the France pavilion at Epcot...) dipped in chocolate. Listen folks, this thing is delicious, especially first thing in the morning with a cup of coffee.
Harambe Fruit Market is one of those places that we rarely visit, but would be devastated if it was to leave. It adds the perfect amount of chaos to the area, which would be too vast if it wasn't there. The menu is very standard for these types of stands...but when that elephant ear is available its a must visit spot!
