Animal Kingdom Lodge Themed Party Recap!

This past Saturday night we had the pleasure of hosting a small get together at our home…themed to Animal Kingdom Lodge!  It was a fun evening with some of my favorite people.  Not only were all four Disney Hipsters here…but also our friends from Jambo Everyone and Mouse On The Mind. We were also glad to welcome new friends Drunk On Disney and the fabulous Lauren!
The main component of the theme was a labor intensive menu featuring items found at Animal Kingdom Lodge.  Just because I like to toot my own horn (and Adam's horn…but not in a weird way.) here is a recap of the food. (yes, I'm shamelessly proud.)

Pickling jalapeños for the Sanaa bread service...

Adam prepping the veggie flatbread. We based it off of the
current incarnation at The Mara.

We made all nine chutneys/dips from the Sanaa
bread service, plus naan and kulcha.

The Mara flatbread…plus a non-mushroom one for the
"pickier" guests in attendance. :)

 Obviously this had to happen.

What Animal Kingdom Lodge themed party would be complete without a Zebra Dome cake?  Adam made that gorgeous confection from scratch, and plans on sharing the recipe soon.  In addition to the food we also had a few cocktails available exclusively at the lodge, and listened to both the Jambo House and Kidani Village music loops.  I've wanted to attempt the Sanaa bread service for quite a while now…and this was the perfect catalyst toward that goal.

Do you ever re-create your favorite Disney foods?  Any big successes or failures?  Join the conversation on Twitter, Facebook, Google +, and Instagram!

  2. You guys seem like so much fun! We had an olympics party a few weeks ago and chose dishes from the various countries participating. I talked my sister into making School Bread and it turned out pretty well! Still can't wait to get the real thing at Epcot next month. Are you guys going to Flower and Garden Festival this year?

    1. That sound amazing! Yes we're going at the end of April! So excited about this years food booths. Have fun on your trip! :)
