OMG! The Disney Book Of Knitting: Part 2

Last week we brought you part one of The Disney Book Of Knitting...featuring some pretty amazing images. A perfect match of irony and sincerity, just like Disney Hipster Blog, right?  If you haven't seen the first post I seriously suggest that you do.
Here are some more equally awesome examples from the book...that will terrify and delight your delicate sensibilities. Enjoy.

She kind of reminds me of Spike from Degrassi.  I want this sweater SO BAD!!!!!!

The Wilderness Must Be Explored!

One of the absolute highlights of our most recent trip to Disney World was the new Wilderness Explorers game/attraction at Disney's Animal Kingdom.  Yes, we're a little biased toward this park...but this is the best interactive game that Disney has implemented thus far.  Sure it's silly, but it also requires you to traverse the park and explore the tiny nooks and crannies that makes this park so special in the first place.
Adam and I finished the entire game over the course of two visits to the park, and here is a fun video montage that sums up the game pretty well.

I absolutely adore how silly the cast members are on during this!  But don't get me wrong, they really know there stuff!  Ask them just about anything concerning the animals in the park, and they're likely to know!
Have you experienced Wilderness Explorers yet?  Did you love it as much as we did? Or did it leave you wanting more?  Lets us know over on Twitter!

Favorite Places To Sit At WDW: Tiki Room Lanai

Way back in April I shared one of my absolute favorite places to sit, in what was supposed to be a series...and since I hate to be a scoundrel here is part two.   The series was to highlight my most loved places to relax at Walt Disney World, while vacationeers hustled around me.  I love to soak up the atmosphere of these special spots building actual memories, and not running around like a crazy person.  Surprise surprise, this spot is in Adventureland as well...

In between the Sunshine Tree and The Enchanted Tiki Room is the exit to that attraction.  The blatant "exit only" sign is a little bit off putting...but we're not going through any doors.  This my friends is the Tiki Room Lanai.

Animal Kingdom Lodge: The View From Up Here...

Staying concierge level at Animal Kingdom Lodge has been on my Disney bucket list since I've been obsessed with the lodge itself.  As many of you know, as of this past month, we got to check that one off of our list!  And while I won't go into a full review of our stay just yet (we're going to discuss it on the podcast first...)  I did want to share a few alternate views of Jambo House from the very special 6th floor...

From the Kilimanjaro Club with the lobby behind us...

To access the 6th floor at Jambo House you must be staying concierge, or know someone who is.  Sure, its only one floor higher than the floor we normal stay on (DVC at Jambo house is only on the 5th floor...) but the difference in perspective and scenery is outstanding.

Looking DOWN onto the fifth floor bridge.  Seriously cool.

OMG The Disney Book Of Knitting: Part 1

This weekend Adam and I went to Atlantic City with Adam's family...not usually our kind of thing, but it was actually tons of fun.  The highlight of our trip actually happened on our drive back, when I found something very special at a roadside flea market...

The Disney Book Of Knitting in all its amazing, horrible, abject glory.  This book is the reason we started Disney Hipster Blog, because if we weren't going to share stuff like this, who was?  Inside of this wonderful knitting book are some of the most whimsical magic known to man...angsty teens wearing atrocious/fabulous knitwear.   This is just part one of two. (three? four?)

AGGHHHH!!!!! I'm more upset about her hair...

Germany's Weinkeller

Throughout Epcot's World Showcase there are several adorable "mini bars."  They don't have seats for the most part, just high top tables, and usually have very limited options.  These bars also make up the fun wine walk that many folks are very fond of.  Today lets look at one of these little bars shall we?

Located in the back left hand corner of the St. George Platz in the Germany pavilion at Epcot is the Weinkeller.  You might guess that weinkeller is german for wine cellar, considering the goods sold in this charming store!
The space is very tight, especially on a busy day, but that just adds too the cozy theming. I mean, do we really want this wine cellar to be spacious?  The room is also quite dim, which furthers the cellar feel, and sets the mood for some fun drinking.

Crescent Lake Bar Crawl

One of the highlights of our recent trip was an epic Crescent Lake bar crawl.  For those of you unfamiliar, Crescent Lake is the body of water situated directly behind Epcot. The shores of this gorgeous lake are flanked by five themed resorts.  Each of these resorts have a number of themed bars...so, duh. This had to happen.
To make things even more fun we live tweeted where we were at each point in the evening, and ended up having our first tweet up.  Here is a glimpse into the nights festivities.

Fun right? But seriously, Picabu Buffeteria is scary and amazing.  Whats your favorite bar in the Epcot resort area?  Let us know over on twitter!

New Ice Cream Brioche at L'Artisan des Glaces!

While at Disney World last week we were beyond impressed with the new L'Artisan Des Glaces ice cream shop in the France pavilion at Epcot!  Not only does the space have a super cute design aesthetic, but the offerings are a vast improvement over the previous occupant.  The menu is short and sweet. 16 flavors of delicious ice creams and sorbet plus a fun boozy option for those of you who like their alcohol on the sweet side. A few more substantial treats have popped up in recent weeks, the ice cream stuffed macaroon...and as of last week the ice cream brioche!

surprisingly adorable signage...

pretty, airy interior...

We're Back...

Hey guys! This isnt a real blog post...kind of.  We just got back from WDW late last night, and we're super tired.  Regular blog shenanigans will resume on Monday, but I did want to say a few things.
First of all, thanks to everyone who went out of their way to say 'hi' on this trip. It not only made me feel totally appreciated, but validated this blogs entire existence.  Also, I wanted to assure you that this trip was not 100% leisure.  I spent a huge portion of my vacation gathering photos, videos, and blog ideas to improve the content of this site and our two podcasts.  I seriously cant wait to start sharing them with you!
Thanks again to everyone who followed along on Twitter, we had a blast sharing our vacation with you and cant wait to do it again.  Lets end it on this picture of me and Adam in front of the new French ice cream shop, which is seriously awesome.

Robin Hood Storyboards Of Sir Hiss

I'm absolutely fascinated with the process and development of Disney films.  Seeing a character change from the original concept to what we see on the screen is super cool, and often not what the original artist had in mind.
A good example is that of Robin Hood's Sir Hiss.  While being developed Hiss was seen as an overtly sinister character, and a more elegant being.  But what we get is a slightly devilish serpent, with TONS of lovable charm.  We feel empathetic toward Hiss, because he is terribly misunderstood.  A lack of ams and legs will do that to a fella...
Here are three wonderful storyboard concepts for the film showing poor Hiss getting picked on by Prince John.
