A Few of My Favorite (Disney Hipster) Things

Throughout the month of August we are celebrating our 2nd blog anniversary!  Yay!  In addition to our fun giveaway ( that you can still enter to win!!! ) we have also asked some of our very favorite bloggers to contribute guest posts to our site!  I am so happy to welcome Melissa from Mouse On The Mind...take it away!

I was so happy when I got the message from Adam and Andrew: they wanted me to help them celebrate their second anniversary as the Disney Hipster Blog. I mean, who doesn’t love the Hipsters?  They're such a fierce, fun and funny voice in the Disney fan community, and I can always count on them to add a touch of snark to my Disney day.
And while I would not be the first (or even the second or third) to call myself a Hipster, there is quite a bit over overlap between what I love about Disney and what Adam and Andrew love about Disney. While we may never agree on Park-appropriate attire, I always connect with the Hipsters over these, my favorite Disney Hipster things:

Dinoland U.S.A. The guys have a well-documented love of the underrated and super-themed section of Disney's Animal Kingdom. I do, too. And I hope to someday ride Primeval Whirl with them until we're sick … and then head over to Restaurantosaurus for some stomach-settling lunch.

Podcasts. I am an unabashed podcast obsessive. I most love offerings from Nerdist Industries and Maximum Fun Network, but I never really got into Disney podcasts until the Hipsters started theirs. It's all of the things we love about the Hipsters PLUS lots of alcohol and Jamie and Keith (who, let's be honest, are totally amazing). It never ever fails to make me laugh.

Norway. This is less controversial than our love of Dinoland, but no less strong. Their love of this awesome and immersive section of Epcot's World Showcase may only be rivaled by my own. And it's not just about the School Bread, either. It's all historical and accurate and that boat ride … love!

Other Disney Fans. I so completely and totally love meeting and having fun with fellow Disney fans. It's part of the reason I co-hosted the Disney Northeast Meet Up with the Hipsters and Estelle from This Happy Place Blog. And it's at least half of the reason I started my own blog. There's nothing better than meeting other people who love your happy place as much as you do. They get that.

Music. Lots of people love Disney background loops. The Hipsters and I do, too, but we also all love old-timey Disney music, like this sheet music from the 40s, as well as new, experimental and loosely-related music, like their own original compositions or this list of non-Disney Disney songs. There's something about Disney that inspires alive and exciting compositions and really gets me grooving in a magical zone. Plus, Adam and Andrew are amazing musicians.

While I don't share the one true Disney Hipster love (Animal Kingdom Lodge, duh), I am staying there for the first time in January … so hopefully I can add THAT to my list of my favorite things and tell you all about it for their THIRD birthday.
Because there will be a third birthday. And many, many more! Adam and Andrew are two of the most intelligent and energetic people I've ever met, and they inspire me all of the time. I can't wait to see what they come up with next.

   HAPPY BIRTHDAY, boys!!
